Rao S. Bezwada, Ph.D
President and CEO
An accomplished scientist and entrepreneur, Rao S. Bezwada, Ph.D. established
Bezwada Biomedical, LLC, an innovation based and technology driven research
company with operations in the United States and India. The company is focused
on developing a wide range of novel absorbable polymeric biomaterials that
represent platform technologies capable of enhancing the quality of life
by producing next generation bioabsorbable medical devices with therapeutic
applications. Dr. Bezwada earned a doctorate in chemistry from the Stevens
Institute of Technology in New Jersey and has been regarded as a leading
expert in the field of bioabsorbable polymers. He has over 25 years of research
experience in the medical device industry, including 20 years of service
at Ethicon, Inc. (a Johnson & Johnson Company) prior to establishing
Bezwada Biomedical, LLC in 2003.
Dr. Bezwada's commitment toward medical research is attested to by his original
research contributions with critical applications in health care. Specifically,
while at Ethicon his research and development efforts led to the launch of
a number of products including Monocryl®, a new ultra pliable synthetic
absorbable monofilament suture. This product has represented worldwide sales
of more than 600 million dollars since its launch in 1993 and current annual
sales of approximately 60 million dollars. In recognition of this invention,
along with its development, Johnson & Johnson, Inc. awarded Dr. Bezwada
the prestigious Johnson Medal in 1996. Furthermore, Dr. Bezwada
has been a prolific inventor and has been issued more than 72 U.S. patents.
Moreover, he has authored several scholarly articles and has been published
in international scientific journals, along with numerous presentations at
both national and international meetings including the American Chemical Society
and the Society for Biomaterials.
In addition to his passion for science and technical accomplishments, Dr. Bezwada
also possesses a deep commitment for his community and has established a non-profit
organization named the "Society for Basic Needs" in India. This organization
has a mission aimed at improving the quality of life for those less fortunate
by providing them with essential amenities and opportunities for education.

Sujata Moton, MBA
Chief Financial Officer
Ms. Sujata Moton serves as the executive vice president and
chief financial officer of Bezwada Biomedical, LLC. As CFO, she oversees
all the financial matters including accounting, budgeting, and taxation
functions of Bezwada Biomedical. Furthermore she also has the additional
responsibilities of business development and overseeing human resources.
Ms. Moton joined Bezwada Biomedical, LLC shortly after its inception in
2003 and since then has been instrumental in its development. Prior to joining
Bezwada Biomedical, LLC, she served for several years as the vice president
and chief financial officer at Indofine Chemicals Company, a New Jersey
based custom chemical company. Her experience also includes management and
accounting positions with Johnson and Johnson, Inc, Old Queens Federal Credit
Union, and the New Jersey Transit Authority.
Ms. Moton holds a Bachelor's degree in accounting and an MBA in finance
from Rutgers University . |

Hari Bezwada, MD
Scientific Advisor
Dr. Hari P. Bezwada has served as the scientific advisor to Bezwada
Biomedical since December 2003. Dr. Bezwada is currently an Assistant Clinical
Professor of Orthopaedic Surgery at the University of Pennsylvania School of
Medicine in Philadelphia, PA. He serves on the medical staff of Pennsylvania
Hospital in Philadelphia. From 1993 to 2004, Dr. Bezwada was affiliated
with Columbia-Presbyterian Medical Center, Drexel University College of Medicine,
and the Rubin Institute for Advanced Orthopaedics.
Dr. Bezwada has received numerous awards including the John Insall
Travelling Fellowship, Lloyd W. Taylor Award, The Ranawat Award, Smith & Nephew
Resident Award, and the Joseph H. Boyes Award. Furthermore, he has authored
numerous peer-reviewed articles published in internationally recognized scientific
journals. He has also authored a number of book chapters and has given numerous
invited presentations and lectures both nationally and internationally. Moreover,
Dr. Bezwada also serves as a reviewer on the editorial board of various scientific
journals of international repute including Clinical Orthopaedics & Related
Research and the Journal of Arthroplasty.
Dr. Bezwada holds a Bachelor's degree in Biology and Arts from
Union College, Schenectady, NY and a medical degree from Albany Medical College,
Albany, NY.
